Question Leave storage compartments in or out?

I'm slowly putting back together the interior in an '83. I've been taking out all the carpeting and other items that have some attachment to the base of the interior to sand and prime any rust that may have accumulated over the years from rain/snow soaking through the carpet and insulation. Luckily not much has been found and now I am getting ready to start putting everything back in. I'm sitting here looking at where the storage compartment sheet metal frames use to be and wondering if I really need to have the storage compartments or not? I thought I'd make this a poll to see what others have done or might do in this situation.

That would be personally up to you. I use the space and have a CD changer located in one of them, plus SCCA rules calls for not allowing many interior changes in the class that I run my 7 in.

I want my post count back!
I would leave them in unless weight is absolutely crucial to racing. It is a convenient place to put stuff considering their is no trunk, and the cargo area is in plain view or the window. Window tint is less weight than the storage bin, and I don't know the availability of the cargo shade like the ones SUVs have, so I vote to leave them in unless your car is strickly for the tracks.
