Leaking LOTS of oil...

Okay guys, I just got home at 2am - it's dark outside so I cant see poopy... but I'm leaking a good amount of oil.

There is a BIG puddle of oil under my car after only 1 minuted of idleing in the driveway. I checked the oil and it's near or lower than the bottom LOW line. It seems like the oil is coming from near the front of the engine, but I cant quite tell right now.

Any ideas on what it might be? I feel a slight loss in power, but nothing major. Hoping it's not a required rebuild??? Thanks again for your help - you've all been very good with me so far.

Timmy

It's not the cooler. The oil is coming from down low in the engine bay on the drivers side. The top of the engine is clean - the bottom is coated in fresh oil. This is not cool man. I'm fearing the worst.

Crossing my fingers for an oil pan gasket gone bad?

What year is the car? Oil cooler lines tend to burst when they get old.

i dont think the front mount oil coolers came on an 83 but im not sure. if its coming from the front of the engine on the drivers side check the oil level sender or the line coming from the behive.
mine is leaking from teh sender but not really badly.

It's an '83. I just woke up - and I'm headed outside to have a look at it. I'll start checking lines everywhere. Sounds like everyone is in some kind of agreement that it's probly a line broken and not the motor itself... that's reassuring.

Beehive equipped engine, oil low on the driver's side of the engine, your metal oil line from the front cover to the rear iron is leaking.

Trochiod and Onlyonthurs wins (I think)! There is a metal line that comes from the Beehive banjo fitting to the front of the motor. I cant visibly see any cracks, but it's pooling and dripping off right at the 90* bend just before it enters at the front of the motor.

Excuse my lack of proper terminology. Where can I find this metal line? Thanks guys!

HOOOOLY Poopy! $128 is NUTS! Any ideas for a cheaper repair? I was thinking maybe of having a braided line? I'm sure that the ID of that hose is paramount to oil pressure etc... and that it's not a good idea to have it made from anything else?

Not sure of the name of that part. I would hit up the local wreckers for a good used one. They are easily bent during removal, care needs to be taken. If you can't find one, I think I have one I powdercoated in anodized silver laying around here somewhere. Looks brand new. I'll take $50 for it, shipping included, PayPal only.

Okay, I searched for a while and couldnt find a cheaper alternative than a new one from Mazdatrix... So I whipped out my carb cleaner, cleaned it up and put some JB weld on it. It's still drying, and I dont know it it'll hold up or not... probly not, but it should let me run till I get a new one.

Trochoid - I'll take yours if you dont mind, please. I didnt have the 180+ for a new one, and as of right now, I dont have the $50 shipped for yours, but I'll get it very soon. Send me your PP address via PM and I'll get you paid as soon as I have the funds. Thank you sir!
