last resort tach problem :(

Ive gone through it seems like a million posts last night trying to fix this but noone has the same scenario as me. Ok so I was messing around with the guys tonight so i decided to mess around and get sideways leaving the parking Lot we met in and as I hit the main road I looked down and my tach had stopped working. I immediately stopped at the gas station checked all obvious connections and everything looks like it was but yacht still doesn't move the only wire I found out of the ordinary was near the firewall and omp that's green with black stripe that doesn't connect to anything. Any help is appreciated

Yea I already checked the connections there they all look correct. If someone could post pics of it, it would help a lot

2 things....first, make sure your trailing igniter is firing. Second, sometimes in cold weather these old tachs will stop working until they get good and ready to start working again it seems...no rhyme nor reason that I can tell ya. The tach connection comes off your trailing coil and is attached to one of the barbs beside the main coil wire, its a spade connector. Dont have wiring diagram with me at work so cant get you color.

Il make sure to check all that after work. But I've got two coils on the way I ordered them so if one is bad it will be replaced. And I I know these cars act funny in cold weather but it was working fine the ten minutes it was running before I decided to play around the only thing I can figure is something came loose while I was slinging the car

Also check the 2 igniters on the dizzy itself, if your trailing igniter is bad (by memory its the igniter pointed more to your alternator) your tach is not gonna work even with a new coil. Quickest way to check and see if your ignition system(s) are firing is literally unplug a coil wire and see if it has spark. Thats not the most scientific way, and it will shock ya if not careful, but will at least tell ya if your ignition is working.
