last question about 85 gsl front brakes
i got the brake hardware kit shown on page 55 of the fall issue of victoria british, grab your book and follow along with me, the insert picture #7 is what i got, where the heck do the 4 strips go, i dont have any on my 85 at all,,,plus the 2 spring (anti rattle i guess) i cant figure out how/where they go, i did not have them on my car either,,,,,do i need them? thanks,,,and hope this will end my brake squeels.......i also cleaned the calipers and guide post as well...........

Okay, gotcha covered....
The long strip pieces fit over the rear of the brake pads, on the metal part. You'll note a hole in the center of the metal of the brake pads. One end of the anti-rattle spring, the severely bent end, fits into the hole, you compress the V and the other end simply rests against the metal edge of the other pad. Study the spring steel clips and the calipers...See how the slot cut into the calipers for the clips are the same size as the sides of the clips. One shoulder is higher than the other. Turn the clip around and see how one side is short, and the other longer....They only fit correctly a certain way. The clips with the middle section sticking up go to the bottom of the caliper and pad....
