Koni reds 86-345
Just picked up some new koni reds along with bilsteins for the rear. When I got them I obviously played with the adjustments a bit,
but to my surprise one shock felt much softer than other so I adjusted the harder one soft and the softer one hard and when the piston extends the hard shock is still hard to come up and the soft one is still soft to come up. But oddly enough the two have similar contracting resistance.
Any thoughts? Not really sure if this is common or a defect.

Are these old-stock units from RB or ClassicGarage?
I had the same problem with a pair for my old '79 battlewagon. The strut inserts have sat for so long that the internal seals have gone. Mine behaved exactly like yours, with inconsistent rebound between units. They are very dangerous on the road this way, please don't install them. I had a section of washboard road that I drove every day and until I put a set of Tokico HP struts in, it was very hard to maintain control because the strut didn't rebound fast enough to cope.

Talking of the konis, bilsteins are fine. Called koni today they said I'd have to ship them to them and have them dyno tested lol. Last night I pumped them a bunch to see tif they would get better, but not much helped.
Then I came home and the both seem similar? Is odd because I had a mechanic look at em and he said "these struts are "$%^*ed" " Anyhow. I'll play with them a bit more before I decide on sending them in. I'll be some pissed if they don't work right.
