Keeps Killing

So I went a picked up my 85 GSL this afternoon and I have alittle problem with it right away. I did search on the forums and everyone who had this problem said that they had idle surging but that's not the case for me. If I keep the chock out all the time I don't have the problem but if I push it in when it warms back up then I get this problem. Anyways, it will kill in idle and I have to constantly tap the gas to keep it going and if I drive and then slow down like getting to an exit ramp on a highway it will kill as soon as i slow down. The common ground here for all the other ones is that the A/C isn't hooked up but that never seemed to be the probelm besides possibly a bumped hose. Any ideas?

AC should have nothing to do with it. Have you check the fuel filter yet? Start with that, the air filter and cleaning the carb.

Possible big vacuum leak. Also possible the shutter valve is bad. Take the air cleaner housing off and start the car. Listen for what would sound like a burping sound coming from the large hose that faces the driverside. If you hear that strange noise coming from the hose, put a bolt in it and it should go away and the idle will stabilize. That's if it is a bad leaking shutter valve.

But it should not have an effect when driving. So also follow Trochoids advice.
