Just want to share (brag actually) about some interior work I did!

I recovered the nasty cracked old door panels. The pictures look kind of gray for some reason but the vinyl and carpet is really black.

Notice how thick and plush!!

And the carpet (I also repainted the interior plastic).

Here are the materials from top to bottom.

1. Rubbery vinyl I only used on the top 4 inches or so of the door panel. If you've removed an old one you'll know what I'm talking about.

2. Foam padding

3. The door vinyl

4. Boat carpet (I cut and sewed myself with my wife's serger sewing machine. OK...she helped )

And here's the thickness of each (reverse order).

Thanks for looking.

DD

Looks good, the door panels remind me of 240Z door panels, If you've ever seen those, only the door handle is mounted at the bottom.

Well, yeah cuz you were surrounded by women...

Looks good man. May have to redo mine that way, if I ever get around to it (being lazy kinda sucks sometimes lol).

Thanks for all the comments. Your feedback is greatly appreciated! I have to agree that the plastic is too shiny. I wasn't real happy with that myself and plan to redo the trim with a different brand of paint to get a "flatter" look. Well, that's what weekends are for, right?

Thanks,

DD

Looks Really Good, I'd Like To Get My Doors Done, But I Want To Wait After I Convert To Power Windows And Locks, Then I Have The Descion Of Finding New Door Panles To The Buttons Or Fabricating Them Into The RX7 Style Panels. Your Carpeting Is Good Too, I Wish Yea Could To My Car For Cheap :-)

Somewhat on-topic, have any of you had success with vinyl dye? I've got a good set of door panels (thanks again Manntis) but they aren't the right color. Any tips on surface prep/brands would be appreciated.
