JUST too much power!!!! blew UP my driveshaft !!!
JUST too much power!!!! blew UP my driveshaft !!!
Guys I don't know about the 150hp rule anymore...
I did it, I just felt for the first time enough power out of my car to able to say DAMN!!!!
I started playing with my weber on thursday and I ended up changing the venturis from the 35 which were in from stock...to a 38mm
my combo is:
38mm chokes
145 mains
170 air correctors
F20 emulsion <--weird came with carb
4.5 aux venturis
this on a 45DCOE with lake city sidedraft intake
I also upped the fuel pressure to 4 psi
THe car ran like a bat out of hell, and I ended blowing my driveshaft last night on some test. Power is almost uncontrollable from 5k to 8k on a STOCK PORT 12A.
I already finished porting an extended port 12A which I plan to run with the same 45 although with 40mm chokes. I care less about having a small carb for it since I figured...choke size is important.
Have fun I know I'm having it.

Wow, thats pretty cool. I wonder how much a lake cities manifold helps over a wrap around one for the sidedrafts. I'm sure its worth while and is partially responsibable for you interesting results.
BTW, how much is a lake cities manifold?

Glad you had fun though. :-)
I have a 13B, but 12A's are a blast to drive.
Nice - but what my search did not reveal:
1) Is Lake City a still-functioning company with a website, or just used parts floating around?
2) What's the cost of the manifold?
3) Are those specific carbs still in production? How much?
4)mperformance, how's the low-end driveability?

I ran into a company in the back of a Motor trend Magazine that did custom axels and drive shafts. \
Weighte like 35% less than stock and costed around $400. the guy said it would handle up to 450 horsepower.
If you want I can look up the company, and get any info I can.

No internet at home DAMN took me a while to get back...got the intake from ebay (NEW OLD STOCK)....great deal guys.
About the driveshaft yeap it was shot...but still the car is running awesome. About pictures, I have posted several. Do a search on lake city first impression.
I have driven plenty of turbo cars and cars with over 400hp the cool deal is that as you guys know the 12as have that bumpity bump ride when shifting, like baaaaaang there goes third it's like annoingly fun to shift anyhow I'm just happy the car is running great.
About the 45 being small.... I repeat webers have the advantage of being able to be enlarged by changing the chokes...I have custom made some 40s (chokes) for the streetport and I might be able to pull a 42s later on...
