Just scored an SE!

I just got an '85 se for 425.00 at the local auction today. 120,000 miles runs great, perfect leather interior, paint faded on hood and roof, one small dent on driver's fender and no visible signs of rust.Clean Carfax only shows two owners on the car. I'll post pics soon!

Great price. Sounds wonderful.

I thought when it comes to 1st gen 7's that "perfect leather interior" is an oxymoron !!! I can't wait to see the pics, but of course I will.

Here's the scoop on the car. Went to pick it up today and she fired right up! Now it idled at about 4k so I'm thinking warmup. Temp gauge come to normal but idle doesn't go down. I'm thinking maybe I need to adjust the idle down some. Is there a auto choke on there? Saw another cable that had some slack in it I'm guessing choke cable. Shifts smooth, rides good, Got the number of the last owner and he said he didn't know what it was so he turned it in. He got the car from original owner 7/04 drove two hundred miles on the car and parked it. Title has 121,545 on it , car has 121,778. I'll post pics when I get home from work.

no choke. the rollers in the throttle body are probably sticking. the cable you are looking at with slack is the cruise control cable. dont mess with it. it'll be fine unless it is tentioned, in your case, doenst sound like thats the case. push down on the tps adjusting screw and see if that helps your idle. dont adjust the screw though, just push on it with your finger and see if that closes the throttle body. and lowers the idel. if thats the case, the rollers are gummed up or the springs are gummy. sea foam deep creep works wonders for that!

Thanks I'll check that! It's dirty as hell in there so a good cleaning might loosen things up.
