Just Purchased a 1982 Mazda RX-7

I just recently purchased an '82 RX-7, it's in a different state, Florida, which is where I'm originaly from. And when I get there it'll be all mine. I was wanting to know what the common problems are, and what I should look out for. It's my first car, and I know who the previous owner was. Which leads to my other question. The previous owner was a fool, and installed a new fuel pump incorrectly. So the accelerator needs to be worked right, or it'll flood the engine. Any ideas on what he may have done wrong? I have no way of finding out, since the friend that is housing the RX-7 isn't that engine wise, but he'll be taking pictures of it shortly.

check for rust in the storage been/rear wheelwell areas and front floorboards, as that's where they tend to rot. Probably not a problem in the southern states though.

Was the fuel pump incorrect for the car? that sounds more like a carberettor issue to me, unless it's the incorrect pump that is forcing too much gas in.

Well, I asked him to take some good engine pics, so hopefully I'll be able to figure out what type of fuel pump it is, and see if it doesn't fit.. But, on the carb suggestion.. It could also be that. I know that the previous owner also installed a Holly carb on it.

Pump is under the car infront of the tank and is electric. sounds like it just needs a regulator.
