When you repaint it, paint it the same color it is now. Color changes are a pain in the ***, and I don't think I've ever seen one that looked good. i.e. not everything is repainted the second color.

Unless you've got the time to strip the car down and repaint everything, don't do it.

Yea, me and my cousin paint cars during hte summer, so if i do give it a color change, its gonna be sanded down to nothing and basecoated and repainted and the whole 9 yards as some would say, im not cutting any corners on this, other than using a straight pipe rather than replacing my catalytic convertors, but anyways right now my car is a pansy red, not normal red, but like a chick red, it sucks.

Damn. Well, paint that **** another color man.

If you're going to do a color change, these are my suggestions for making it look best:

1. Take the rear hatch off. If you have the patience, take the quarter windows off too. These are tricky, as they are glued on. I've masked around them the few times I've painted and it turns out OK.
2. If your car has a sunroof, take the sunroof and gasket off. Mask the underside of the hole so you don't paint your interior too. This improves the look.
3. Take the doors off. Mask over the stickers in the drivers door. If you ever try to sell the car, and you've painted over those, you'll have some trouble.
4. If you've got the time, take the hood off and paint both sides of it. If you've got a lot of time, take some of the stuff out of the engine compartment and paint it too. If you're not going to be doing a whole lot of under-hood showing, I wouldn't do this. But, I would paint both sides of the hood. My car looks funny whenever I open the hood to check oil because the whole thing is blue and the underside of the hood is silver.

One thing I've started doing with my 7's is painting over the windshield trim, too. I think it looks a lot cooler to have it the body color rather than black or chrome-y. But, its my personal opinion/preference.

Good luck, and have fun!
