Talking Just Got A FB

I just bought an 82 Fb off of AbominalSnowman. https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=678834. Great Guy.. i drove down with my cousin from Cleveland Oh, to Greenville SC.... Drove th FB 10+ hours home non Stop... only had 1 issue all the way home.. bought a new fuel filter while down there, and shouldve changed it before i left like Abominal said i should but decided to see how long the older one would last.. 30 min into the way back home *Sputter Sputter Spit* woops.. so i changed it in 2 min on the side of the freeway.. turn key and kept going.. drove all the rest of the way home no problems.. Oil pressure a constant 60, volts 13, car never heated above 1/4 on the gauge. I bought 2 cans of sea foam and used em on the first 2 fill ups of the car. All in All it was fun.. 20+ hours of straight driving with no rest.. ahh i also dont think the clutch likes me very much after all that driving by the time i got home every time i shift it would slip lol if i pressed the gas too hard or fast the revs would just keep climbing like i was burning out.. until i released the gas and it caught.. so i think it just over heated.. ill see when i got play with it today..

welp went outside.. clutch is fried.. no problem there itll get replaced anyways.. i have a slight coolant leak.. it looks like the water pump gasket might of went its not leaking alot.. just running down teh side underneath the waterpump.. any other opinion on hwere it could be coming from it doesnt look like its coming from teh front cover anywhere.. and it still runs great.. if it was the front cover wouldnt i get smoke from the exhaust or other signs?

the water pump leak could be just the weep hole.. meaning the water pump is bad, not only the seal

if his water pump was bad wouldent the car over heat? he said it only reached a 1/4 on the gauge the whole way home.....

and to the op when the clutch starts to slip its time to replace theres really no adjustment....its pretty stright forward changing it out . but what ever u do dont buy a clutch from napa...i bought one and didnt even drive the car hard and the thing blew up within 50 miles ...the brand was "perfection..yea REAL perfect!...so i got a free replacement and i think that one is already going bad

I agree with rotarymelon, I just replace my pump because of the same reason, not only on rotaries but on every car when the pump leaks from the breathing hole the pump has to be rebuild or replace. Look at the hole when you remove the pump and you will see the coolant stain in it.

The pump is doing the job because the internal fan is spinning, the pump has no bearing problem but an internal leak thats not big enough to drain the radiator as long as you keep an every day eye on it.

Nope. If the water pump seal is going bad, it will leak, but still work.

If the water is leaking out of the underside of the pump, change the pump. Water pump is cheap, overheated engine is not.
