Are you ever let down when your rotary "wants" a richer jet?

I hate it when that happens...

I just let the wideband tell me. I don't really try to guess anymore. What is gas mileage anyway?

don't we all want a richer jet?

It just reminds me of this summer where I was trying different things to see how lean I could safely run the 12A. I was getting hysterically good MPG's from it, but you could tell the engine was unhappy. It bucked, and surged randomly on long straights. I had my secondaries tuned on the rich side, but when it was jetted like that I found myself deep in my secondaries all the time because it was more fun to drive. I actually use less fuel now with my primaries fattened up to the 13.8:1-14.0:1 area. On accel it dives to the 12.5:1-13.0:1. My original tune had me cruising at closse to 16.0:1 AFR, and accel at 14.5:1.

I dont really know how the rotary runs as well as it does when leaned that far out, but it totally makes you want it to be richer. It surely does "want" to be fattened up, no matter how you look at it.
