junkyard SA, rare?

Was lead to a junkyard today by a fellow rotorhead looking for a specific '79 SA he had put in the yard some 9 years ago. I've been looking for an SA chassis to dump my Turbo -SE's engine into for the past few months.

As we walked he told me that the engine was locked solid, and that he and his friends had tried to free it up by dragging it down the street. He didn't succeed, so they dropped it off here.

It was a red '79 GS with a 6/78 build date. I opened the door and checked for bin rot. It had a cheesy aftermarket backseat which was easy to move. There was a little rust, but was not all the way through. I noticed the interior appeared to be tan, in very rough shape. Below the backseat, the bin area appeared to be yellow. So, I opened the hood and confimed that this was a respray. My friend and I checked around and there appears to be more rot on the passenger-side. Too bad. Would have been a great candidate otherwise.

I've done a lot of searches, and this is all I've found:
From this thread we learn that the tan/brown interior was only available in '79.

The car probably looked a lot like this back before the respray

I'm still thinking about pulling it out, but I hate fixing rust!

6/78 is an early car, should have the right hand hood prop and missing the Passenger Mirror. that early is kind of hard to find.

Yea, it's still the earliest I've ever seen, and the lowest serial number I've ever seen. And the best part is, I bought it new!
