junk in fuel tank

me thinks my gas tank is rusting, keep getting black specks in my fuel filter, i guess its rust, but dont know,,,how does one go about cleaning the fuel tank and halting the crud build up,,,,,,,radiator shop did my 66 stang tank and it came back with lots of pin hole leaks, is there another way to clean and coat the inside myself?

/........beat me to it. I considered "fixing" a rusty tank, and decided it was a bad idea. I had a harder time though, doggone SE's are specific!

Glad you are back running!!
