Jorx short shifter install?

One question how do you get the little dowel off. It centers the shifter in the tranny. Loooking at the new spacer it looks like I need to remove and reuse the dowel.

Thanks, Ed

use a punch or long screwdriver with a hammer and pop that pin out. punch it towards the front of the car. a few good taps and it should come out. then hammer that pin into the spacer. it's always a good idea to fill that cup with some gear oil or other heavy lubricant.

What hardware did yours come with? Mine had a spacer and 3 longer bolts.

Thanks, Ed

same thing. the longer bolts will take account for the addition of the spacer. the pin must be punched out and hammered into the hole on the spacer. you will kick yourself after you install it because it is so easy.

Just wanted to make sure before I break something. I'll go ahead and back it out with a punch.

Thanks, Ed

Don't forget to plug the original hole, you don't need crap getting in there, or the lube coming out.

New bushings are always a good idea. Clean the hole with some brake cleaner and plug it with J-B Weld. I personally think using a good bearing grease is better than MT fluid for lubing the bushings. It will stay in place better.

Thought joe took some pics to post when he installed mine.. All you need is a large punch (or equivalent) and a hammer. Get the old one out then put it in the spacer. The spacer itself covers the hole as I remember. You shouldn't need to plug it..
Throw in the spacer and the shifter, bolt it back up and viola.
PM jorx81@aol.com if you got any questions.

I just took a look at mine and I believe your are correct, it should cover up the hole. One of these days I may get it put in one of the 7's.
