OMG. I havent driven one in such a long time.
I drove my friend's '85 GS yesterday.
The inch of play in the wheel threw me off and I forgot to pull the choke when I first started it.
Still. It's funny how it gets quieter when you rev it up. His exhaust is broken right before the muffler.

My '85 GSL is my daily driver. Bone stock (ie: not particularly quick), "wonder steering", flaking clearcoat, slow power windows, leaky door seals and only 200 to 300 miles between fill-ups. Yet it is still the car my wife and I choose to drive when travelling together.
Meanwhile, her '91 Nissan Sentra XE gets ignored --- she only drives it to and from work. The fact that the 7 has proven more reliable than new cars built by the "big three" domestic manufacturers certainly doesn't hurt either.
Not bad for a 20-yr-old car that redneck inbred types claim "ain't no damn good cuz it's 'may-ud in Jer-pay-un' and got one 'o them there no-good Wankel motors."

"...Everybody has more sex than me..." haha, nice avatar skrewloose. That is the same animation Im thinking of isnt it?
Anyway, I havent driven one in a couple years now too. I drive a lifted Toyota 4x4, but everynow and then I get into my friends Miata with modded suspension and remember what it was like to drive a "sporty" car. After driving the Toyota, the Miata feels really quick, then I remember when I had my 83 still, I would pull on that thing like it was standing still. I miss my 7 most of the time.

During my 4 years restoring the car I kept hoping "man, I hope this car lives up to what I've built it up to in my mind.... it would suck if I finished and just didn't like driving it"
Well... I've put 8,000km on since mid-april. That's almost exactly three months right now. IF I drove it all year round that would account for 32,000km/year!
And I absolutely love it. Not a problem in the world, with the exception of somehow blowing the wiper fuse and thinking I had to replace the whole assembly.... man was I embarassed when we finally swapped in new wiper motors and Eric said "Hey Jon... didja check the fuse?"

One of my buddies near here has an '85 GS... His alternator died and he's short on cash, so I said, since mine isn't going anywhere soon, I'll let you use it.
As I was out at the car, before pulling the alt, I cranked her up (With a jumper pack.) Started on the first few cranks, 4 year old gas and everything.

I decided to pull the battery and bring it home since it hald only half it's electrolyte. It actually took a charge last night after topping it off with filtered water.
That's great it started after 4 years. When do you plan to get it back on the road, and are there any parts you need?
(I'm passing on hyperfest due to cracked turbo, and need time to prepare another car for a show in Canada next week.)
