Jesus Padilla's race car.

Channel surfing one night, I caught a few Drag racing runs on ESPN or SpeedVision or something...

Jesus Padilla was running against the Skunk Racing Acura Integra...

So here's this fully decked out Honda. Headlights and tails are decals, wheelie bar, the while 9 yards...

Against what looked like a fully stock bodied GSL-SE (Aside from the HUGE meaty slicks in the back ) Hell.. It even had stock GSL-SE front wheels.

Killed the Integra... Once by short distance, then another run by longer distance... Didn't catch the times.

However in the rear, I got a glimpse of the interior through the hatch...

I think the hatch still had the defroster grid on it, and I KNOW I saw a stock Mazda steering wheel inside...

I'm wondering if it's really got a stock body... I'd think they'd replace the hatch with Lexan or soemthing. And if it's a tube frame, they'd probably have gotten rid of the recirculating ball steering, put in R&P and had a different steering wheel...

Does anyone have any more pics of Jesus Padilla's car? Perhaps a website showing what he's got?

I have pics of the car. Took them yesterday. That thing looks stock but is a monster on the track!

correction, thats a lot of torque for an n/a rotary. There are plenty of turbo's kicking out way more than that.

Amazing what a pport, individual throttle bodies, and methanol can do isn't it?

I believe he was runnin' a 20b last year, but went back
to a 13b 'cause of regulations on the competition. I might
be wrong on this. Nevertheless, he is smokin'!!

If I remember correctly, and if they told me correctly, he took a 20B and took the back rotor off of it.

I remember reading something like that too. His engine is labelled 20B, but is only a two rotor. Don't know why though...

If I am remember correctly again, the timing on the first two rotors were better than the normal 13b or something like that. Its been a long time since hearing about it, so its all a bit fuzzy in details. Its something like that though.

Everybody is fuzzy in details. The problem is that we never get the full details here. The last time Jesus ran, we got pics, but no info. Until I get some solid info, I'm just going to stick with the only thing I have consistantly heard - that he went from 3 rotor to 2 rotor because of the fact that they restricted use of the 20b.

The car is a 13B periferal port running on alcohol with Microtech injection and it's not some 20b that's been cut up to make it a 2 rotor. Here is some info on it http://www.centralfloridaturbo.com/kilorx7.php and the car is stock body with all the factory glass. Running basically the stock suspension tweaked on a bit though. I forgot what rearend he was using I looked under the car but I forgot what it was. He has the 20b rx7 still both cars look alike same color and everything except one is a 13b and the other a 20b. If you look on Ken Scheepers site http://www.kenscheepers.biz/Script/i...pper&Itemid=59 their setups are similar.

I don't know if this was mentioned anywhere else but he still has his other 20b car. The two are pretty much identical. I've seen it out at the lakeland track a while back.

The article says - "How embarrassing is it for Honda Guys when the fastest car, time after time, in their own class, is a 1985 Mazda RX-7."

- How rude is it for the writer to make that comment!!!

That's correct. Modified Ford 9"ers in both cars.

His son is running the 20B car. I had the pleasure of meeting him and his son (the guy that helped me with my engine, Fernando Rivera, is a good friend o Padilla) in Montgomery, AL for an all rotary drag event, back in March. His son laid out a 10.3XX pass with the rev limiters kicking in at 7200 RPMs. And that 20B sounds awesome. Of course, all of our eyeballs were fried out of their sockets from his burn out (he's also running alcohol).

Don't know his weight on his car but these are the class regulations http://www.nhrasportcompact.com/2005...egulations.pdf He meets the minimum weights so it's atleast 1950lbs but I don't know if that is just vehicle weight or vehicle weight with driver.
