Unhappy Ive got bad u-joints

Okay, I took my car to the tranny shop today. They said it has bad ujoints. Since they are not repacable, i have to buy a whole new drive shaft.

I found one at mazdatrix for $250 with replaceable ujoints.

Is there anywhere else to get a drive shaft cheaper?

transmission fluid comes out of the tailshaft of the transmission. if you have a spare yolk, it would be highly advisable to stck it in as you pull your driveshaft out. if not, it would be a start to replacing your transmission fluid. the drriveshaft bolts to the differentil via 4 14mm bolts and 4 12mm nuts. no fluid comes out of the differential when you take the driveshaft off.

or you can jack the car up by just the rear end, get under there, undo the bolts, slide it out, slide the new one in, and redo the bolts. with the rear of the car in the air, the tranny fluid moves to the front. when i did it i didnt have any come out.

No fluid involved. Done drive shaft replacement many times in driveway. Sometimes if you just replace U joints balancing the drive shaft seems to be imposible. Vibration is obvious. Can't figure this one out.
Changing the trans fluid to Amsiol synthetic is always a good move.
