it's alive 85 12a
I bought this car for 450, 85 12a, no rust, nice interior. I was told the engine didn’t have any compression but when I checked it out it turned out to be good. Put on a new rb manifold, holley 600, and stripped the rat’s nest. Pulled it with my truck and she fired right up. The clutch is shot and so is the water pump but I have extras, once I put those on she’s ready to roll. Oh yeah, does the rb cat replacement pipe go from the exhaust manifold all the way to the muffler? I need one of those.
Is it good to run the holley 600 on a stock motor? I wanted to know because I'm buying the intake and the 600 for when I get my motor bridgeported, but was wondering what would happen if I just threw it on there while the motor was stock

how much of a difference does it make removing the rats nest? I was thinking of doing that but I wasnt sure if it was a good idea, alot of those vacumn lines seem to run to important things according to the sticker under the hood.

I did the ratnest removal on mine and its been running great. Only vacuum line that I have running is the one for the brake booster

I've got a holley 600 on my stock 12A right now. I stripped off the choke and modified the vacuum secondaries to mechanical. It takes a lot of patients getting it tuned but once you get it she runs very well.

how is this possible??? what about crankcase ventilation, vaccum advance timing, etc? you will possibly get water in your oil and that will be baaad. BUT, i might be wrong. when i removed my rats nest i had to hook those up still. does run much smoother with all that mess gone though!

Vacuum advance actually gives you more power when you're running stock timing settings... the only way you can get away with disabling it is by advancing your timing setting...
My toyota ran like **** with no vacuum advance; 2nd gear to the floor up hills, doing 45 km/h..... lots of backfiring when coasting, etc... Hooked it up, now I can go up steep hills in 3rd with no problem, and less steep (like 5% grade) in 4th with no problem.... and that's with 31's....

I might try it to see if I feel anything different. I haven't had any problem with power when I had this done, and I drove from FL to NC like this. Of course I ripped out the emissions/ratsnest, A/C, installed RB exhaust all in the same day so I might be missing out on some power and not know it. If I feel any increase that would be a damn shame because that means alot of the cars out here that people pay **** load more money for are all POS's.
