issue with gslse swap
issue with gslse swap
I have a 84 gs with drum rear and swapped it for an se disc rear, everything was direct swap, very easy to do. My problem is the brakes feel like there dragging, I exchanged the e brake cables and had to adjust the nut on the e brake handle all the way out, so they would even connect, but the nut on the e brake handle is only on by a few threads, is there something im doing wrong? The brakes feel like theyre rubbing and not free. Any help is appreciated
The front half of the ebrake cable should be the same between the drum and disk cars, it should have gone together easily.
Do you have a pic of how the cable is attached on the caliper side of things? I'm wondering if something is wrong there?

I just did one today, the little plastic sleeves where the cable turns over the edge was all gummed up. Cleaned it out and tuned the sleeves 120* to show it a new surface. Works like a charm.

rotaryjunkee are you using the correct e-brake cables for the rear disc brakes? The cables for the drum brakes and the disc brakes are totally different. I did the same swap and the e-brake install went smoothly without a hitch. Never had to adjust the nut on the handle.
The drum rears and disc rears are different, you cannot use the drum rear cables on the disc rear, is there a length difference between gsl and gslse? I changed the cables from the center back, not from the ebrake handle all the way back. Could that be my problem?
That I don't know about. I swapped in a set of cables from a 12A car but it was still an 84-85 chassis going into an 81-82 chassis. This car happened to have a large flange rearend though, but I don't know how to tell whether it's an 83 small axle of 84-85 big axle. Didn't want to pull the axles to find out.
