Irratating headlight problem - searched

I knew that it would happen eventually, I wouldn't be able to find the answer to a question that I had by searching and I would have to register and post. Ok, here it is....

Yesterday the power lead from my driving lights was knocked off of the switch and shorted out, no problem put it back and then replaced the fuse, driving lights work again, but the headlights will not pop up. The lights come on only the motor will not work. I manually cranked them up and was able to drive home. The relay on the passenger side clicks when the headlight switch is thrown but nothing on the drivers side. Replaced the fusable link (was still good) and nothing changed. Swapped the relays and recieved the same result. Assuming that the release tab is on top I have power to the bottom left pin and the top center pin on the passenger side, driver's side only has power to the bottom left pin.

Also my right turn signal now flashes double speed as if I had a bulb out, only I don't. Please help me, let me know if all you brilliant people need more info from the idiot n00b here.

Update, after reconnecting the battery again now the driver's relay is clicking and not the passenger, they are in their origional location. I disconnected and reconnected every wire that I could find and no improvement. Tried all of this again with the headlights cranked down. I have no idea of where to go from here.

There is a fusible link for the motors (retractors) and one for the headlights. They are both on that same block on the driver strut tower. Try to replace the retractor fusible link and let us know if that fixed the prob. Welcome to the forum.

Thank you for the reply. It was the fuse block but not the fuse. The male pin was corroded, noticed it when I looked again. The only thing that I have left now is to find out why the left hand turn signal is still blinking at a double rate.

You may have a light out ..on the left..check your bulbs..that is usually a sign of a fried bulb.

Sorry about the dely, had that pesky work thing to do. No lights out. Happened for a couple for starts/turns, then mysteriously disappeared. My car punishes me when I let something dumb happen like the short referenced earlier. I did disconnect the battery for a half hour like I used to have to with my Jeep to reset the computer, maybe that did something.

Check the signals for a loose/corroded ground. Just because they are working, doesn't always mean they are working at their full brightness.
