Intermittent Wiper Problem

My 1985 GSL-SE has a problem with the intermittent setting on the wiper. Sometimes works but most of the time it does not. Everything else about the wiper works normally. I have not found any patterns to the problem. I was wondering if there is a relay that controls the intermittent functions or is it something going bad in the ECU? If it is controlled by a relay, does anyone know where it is located? TIA.

The Central Processing Unit (CPU) has the timer and relay as part of the CPU. It's on the drivers side foot well side panel kind of tucked under the dash.

here is the wiring diagram section 50 2D page 50:20

@KansasCityREPU,

i have no idea what the CPU looks like in my care, do you by any chance have a photo of one? Do you know if they can be repaired?

Thanks for your help.

I don't have a picture but there are tons of threads that discuss this and were it is at.

Here is one: https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generati...t-find-941857/

81-85 wiper intermittent circuit, turn signal/hazzard flasher, seat belt timer, various buzzers and other stuff is controlled by the CPU. It is a black plastic box about 2" X 3" X 1". It is located under the left side dash, against the kick panel, above and towards the front of the car from the fuse box. It does not control the wiper stop position or the speeds. More information is in the FSM, chapter 15. I would check both of the issues mentioned above.

Here is a layout for it. Connector X-11 in the document I posted has its location and what the connector looks like.
