Intermittent clutch drag

I put a new clutch in the blue 83 last summer and it's worked beautifully until this week. Sometimes it drags so bad I can't engage gears and it creeps along while fully depressed. Then the drag goes away! Only to return unexpectedly later. I checked the hydraulics and all is well: plenty of fluid, etc.

i might be missing something, but i'd still say one of the cylinders is dead or dying quickly ... start with the slave.

If you replace one of the cylinders it is usually a good idea to replace the other aswell.

Well, it's not losing fluid the way that I'm accustomed to see with a bad slave. But maybe that's the easiest: especially since I changed the slave on the 85 last week so I've got the grope and stumble program down pretty good for fishing the slave back in.

Maybe the problem is this hot weather. If there's a bubble in the fluid then the added heat could expand it just enough to make it spongy and reduce effectiveness. So I should just bleed the clutch. Now that the weather cooled the drag is gone.

thats what i was going to tell you to try first. bleed it, it can't hurt. eliminate that from the possiblities.

Problem went away with the hot weather, so I assume it was a bubble. I'll bleed it anyway.
