intermittant door locks

Sometimes they will unlock, some times not! I took off the door panel. They work now, but I didn't change anything.

What gives??? All you fb experts that have put my knowledge to shame.

It really impresses a date when I have to crawl out the window, or the passenger door.

ok, I had the same problem a week ago. What I did (not sure AT ALL if this is good or bad), was I took the lock completely out. There's this little metal piece in the lock that can sometimes prevent the key from going in or turning once it's in. Just yank that ****** out and spray the inside with WD40 and the lock will be super smooth.

Locks need lubed just like good............... I spray them down with brake cleaner to get the old gunk out, then re-lube with white lithium grease spray.

Locks? But the doors wouldn't unlock from the inside either.

Not the thing that goes up and down on top of the door, and not the inside door release would work

the door lock wouldn't open again. neither the inside door latch would work. Since the inside door panel is still off, it was able to work the locking mechanism back and forth....it started working.

the driver's side door is possessed !

Does the outside door handle work all the time? Does it only happen the door is locked, what if you left the door unlocked? (Does it ever not open?) I don't know if I’m just not reading it right but I don't understand all that is going wrong if you have the panel off, I would think you could see where the hang up is. When I had issues with the outside door handle, I could see what was wrong once I got it all apart, but the internal handle still worked.

I would watch it when you unlock it with the key and make sure the part that turns is connected to the part that sticks up through the door.

But I may be way off and just not understand.

I know door locking mechanisms are lame in the company of all you speedracers with turbo charged 13B's in your FA's, but....

is PB Blaster as great as it says it is? Is it a good lubricant and rust inhibitor? Is it good enough that I just spray it on the moving joints of the door locking mechanism??

Yes it is, but I would use the the white lithium grease that comes in an aerosol can instead.
