interior red light theme questions

hey.. im going with a red interior lighting theme and the orange ring on the cig lighter looks bad with the rest red....

so far i have the cluster lights... (bulb condoms..)it turned out quite nice.. will have pics soon

heater control swith thing

i cusom inserted a stock digital clock from a gls-se with a red bulb (looks awesome in a series2)

the headight up/defrost lights above the switches (bulb condom)

dome light (painted bulb)

the only 2 i have left are the cig lighter ring and the orange piece above the ashtray..
i was thinking maybey painting the ring red.. or butting a red bulb behind it.. becasue the guages came out PURE RED and they are orange backed i belive..

any opinions?

I actually was going with something similar - but my idea was BLUE. As I am slowly going for an interior theme of BLUE/BLACK, I thought BLUE lighting was "cool" I have a white car - so blue interior looks good. Bloody console is a bitch to get out and remove often though, and what are these "condom" things for lights I hear you guys mention?
So far - BLUE interior light (bright),Blue/black floor matts - Blue/black steering wheel, blue/black gear change ****, blue painted centre console, black dash mat, blue black seat cover for rear seat. Pics soon.

like a condom that slips over the bulb, colored plastic/rubber to withstand the heat, so your effect is a now a colored light

You can buy colored laytex or silicone things that slip on over the bulbs. They're mixed in with interior bulbs at AutoZone and the like. Personally, I went with silver gauges with blue numbering and red markings, then did my needles with a red Sharpie. It sounds ghetto, but it works fine and you can put it on all your bulbs, too. Don't tamper with the white background on the needles, though, just leave them faded orange-white and color the needles if you want. If the backing is anything but white, you won't see anything.

But yeah, for the bulbs, red Sharpie is da bomb, as long as you don't tell anyone that you used red Sharpie.

Show us some pics. Now that you've peaked our interest give us pics NOW!! Just kiddin but I'm pretty sure that you can just replace the cig ring...I don't remember where you can get them. It should just unscrew I believe. Try a local parts store. The only good thing about cig lighters are no matter the make their all standard to each other.

That's obviously meant to fit some sort of tubular bulb.

Would be nice if they gave the direct fit replacement number. "wedge base" could mean many different bulbs.
