Interior Piece still available...

I got this tip off of someone from the South Forum and, lo and behold, the part IS still available and only $9.98 from a Mazda dealership. Factory piece, made in Japan...

The piece is the plastic cup for the inner door handle, here's the very dead original from 1984...

The new factory door cup, PN8116-58-303 65..."off black"....dark grey in reality...

Most experienced RX-7 owners know Malloy Mazda is the first place to look for OEM parts. Ray's number is programmed in a lot of people's phones.

Haha, thats funny. I tried ordering those from Victoria British back in the day and they told me it would be like a 6 month wait.....
I literally searched 10s of junkyard cars for em, and they were all crap/broken.

I cant believe I didnt think of the dealer...$10.00 each...wow.

Thats a good lesson in trying the dealer first.....

The thing about Victoria British is that they use a lot of different vendors to fill their orders. Everything I've gotten from them before has been of decent to good quality, but you can't beat a factory part for some pieces. Look at the 2nd photo...anybody realize how hard it is to get a color match for that kind of plastic?? On the folks who got VB plastic inner door pull surrounds, where was the piece made? I am actively avoiding buying anything that was made in China and VB tends to use some stuff from there to get the job done cheaply, unfortunately.

I usually get my OEM parts from Mazda (or MAZDATRIX if I'm in a hurry.) All the items I have gotten from Black Dragon/Victoria British over the years have all been OEM parts with Mazda stickers and Mazda part numbers.

Yep those door latch cups are one of the few parts the Mazda dealership doesn't price so high it's not worth it. Also look into redoing your other plastic parts, like the little piece that goes around the door lock (around $9 each) and the door pull cups (about $12 each), add it all up and it's a little pricey but a nice touch if you want the interior to look new.

What Mazda, Malloy or your local dealer? Malloy has always been faster than Mazdatrix, for me. He usually ships the same day or next day. Usually lowest price for OEM, and the special deals are very good.
