Interior door panel restoration

I am trying to find a source to purchase the chrome plastic strips that are bonded (glued?) to the door panels on a 1984 GS with manual windows. Mine are in good shape, but I don't believe they can be removed without damaging them. They kind of cover the transition between the different fabrics along the upper part of the door. I have found the correct fabrics to restore the doors, but I need the strips to complete the project.

The strips can be found at some autobody supply shops, auto upholstery shops or online. Only problem is it comes in a roll without finished ends. If you don't care about the old panel, cut the strips out and glue them on the new ones. May work, may not.
