Wrong. The 12a turbo was the first fuel injected rotary, they were not carb'd. And the premium model first gens in japan were the GT-X model, a 12a turbo with essentially the same other specs as the American GSL-SE, with the exception of course of the engine and power output

The 12AT wasn't carbed, it had a throttle body style fuel injection system.

Cool vid. My Japanese sucks, so all I caught was that he was talking about how light it was, and he kept saying how good the handling felt.

That's the craziest thing I've ever seen... CUP HOLDERS!

83 Turbo? I thought it was 84-85, same as the GSL-SE in the states? Apparently I am not "a bauce."

Nope, the turbo started in '83. Also, notice the brake ducts that we didn't get until '84, and the S2 style interior (we were the only ones who got the updated interior for S3).

Durf, I didn't even think to look at the interior. Welp, learn something new everyday on this forum.

i think it can be attributed to how the japanese date their cars...not exactly sure the technique, maybe the are specific to the build year rather than the US half year nonsense. all i know is that the japanese versions always seem to happen a year before the american counter parts. ie. the '85 limited FC or the '91 FD's. i also remember that sometimes there are a crossovers between different chassis' over in japan. the S13 silvia comes to mind as the S13 chassis was still being built well into the S14's run

I think the Japanese just do whatever the hell they want. Like with the FC verts. "Hey, we still have a bunch of these left... let's just slap tan leather seats and '92 model stickers on them and sell them again next year."

Just keep watching the used cars. It'll show up eventually. It's been too many years, so I don't remember exactly when anymore, but I think it appears fairly early on.
