Interesting thing i found

The other day,i was working on the Rx7 ,cleaning the engine bay up a bit.

So i decided to pull of the plug wires ,and clean them, seeing that they werent shiny anymore.

I pulled the leading wire going from the Dizzy cap to the leading coil.

What do you know...is was only heald(Sp?) in place by the boot ,it wasnt conducting!.

So my BP was running on Trailing ignition the whole time, with little or on spark from the Leading plugs.

I replaced the wire.
GOODNESS!What a difference!
I started easier, and is pulling like crazy now!The idle is allso a consistant Brap-Brap-Brap now.

Will i be able to see a difference in hp ?Or am I wishing ?

Cheers
Karis

Hi Carl!

Yeeha!

One of these beautifull days,i`ll chuck the stock ignition system, and start running aftermarket coil drivers and coils.

Ps: I cut open a airbox last night(same as the one you did)...cant wait to see how it is going to perform!

Do some sort of direct fire system. Hmm, it may change the brap brap brap a little (it'll sound like a 2nd gen with a bridgey due to the dual leading sparks).

Yeah, its weird how my cars tone changed a little after the DLIDFIS I put in. It sounded lower and more grumbly.

Mine sounded like it was running at a higher idle due to the extra sparks per revolution. Then I heard an FC and noticed the same sound. It is less putt-putt-ish than the old style ignition systems.
