Interesting conversation today
Well today I met the head of a company that builds generators for my company. They are based in San Diego CA,and they are a large company called Alturdyne.Well I have noticed for years that the logo for the company has a rotor shape in it,and thought it can't be a coincidence,so I asked the head of the company today when I met him.We ended talking about their rotary generators, and it turned out he had pictures, and specs of their setups. They used many different rotaries for different applications, but the majority of what they used was Mazda rotaries,in either single 12A housing applications,or full on 12A,or 13B setups. They ran their own drive systems off of the front covers, and modified the oiling system in some way that he didn't elaborate on.He also told me that most of their rotary applications were run on natural gas,or propane, and that it didn't take much to convert them to run that way.He told me they run at 6-8K rpm continuosly, and they rarely have any issues with them,He told me they are very reliable, and that he has had some government agencies interested in a few setups for them using their rotary applications.I asked him if they made their own eccentric shafts for the single rotor engines, and he said not only do they do that, but they also have made 4 rotor eccentrics for double 13B(or 26B)engines.He told me they were affiliated with Jim Downing in Atlanta.I was amazed at all the details this man knew about the setups that he said are not their bread, and butter, but I could tell he was a rotary lover. He told me he owned 3 Suzuki rotary motorcycles, and has worked on snowmobiles, and every other sort of rotary engine from Sachs,to John Deere's.It was a fun day at work, and I think the owner of the company liked talking rotaries with a fellow rotorhead. He told me that Mazda, and his company are pretty much the only companies using rotaries anymore, and they are recycling 12A's from the junkyard, and having them rechromed to be used again.Too bad mazda doesn't make anymore 12A housings.

Definitely sounds like a good day at work. I wish I could talk rotaries with someone.... You know... someone who knows what they are talking about and doesn't say stuff like "You know those engines can rev up to like 15,000 rpms from the factory and ****. They also get really good gas mileage, don't they?"
My 13B had to of hit 13K ish RPM and its still alive...iono how high they will go if you just open the throttle body all the way but thats what we did while I was in the back looking at the exhaust color and the RPM and my dad just decided to open it all the way and held it for a good ammount of time, shot from 6K to 9K then went farther then stopped going.... but the engine kept reving higher and higher pitched till it was horribly alot of smoke comming out then when he let go the car backfired alot (it has cats lolz)
