interchangable differentials?
ok, i know this has been disgussed before, but im gunna ask once more,
what differential (3rd member) not the hole rear end like most LS swaps are done one hear. I want to know if i can just take the actual differential assembly out of my '79, and put and S2 (i know S3 wont work, splines or sumthin) or some other diff., maybe miata? with limited slip, into the diff. housing ( no E-brake hybrid or brake line changes) i have been shown a site http://members.ij.net/mrmazda/interc...l#DIFFERENTIAL by a very helpful local, but i have no clue how or where to find if any of these are LS or what-not.
any input is greatly appreciated
thanks
Dustin

S2 (81-83) LSD will bolt in. Depends what you're doing with the engine, as I'm running a 13B-T I've modified an EA Ford Falcon rear end to go in to mine (Borg Warner 75 LSD 8.8 inch) but I had to shorten the tubes and axles. The standard 12A LSD is good for around 250Hp if you don't thrash it too much.
I'll be pushing at least 250HP in my rotary powered GLC. That's why I'm upgrading to an RX-7 driveshaft. The stocker's U joints are a bit smaller than 1st gen's.
I have a question about the differential flange. Can I remove the '79-'83 flange from my differential and swap in an '84-'85 flange? I'm only asking because the '84-'85 driveshaft has thicker U joint brackets and should handle more power. I also have access to an '84 rearend that I might have shortened to fit in the GLC.
