MN Intake question

Hey guys. I have a 85 FB with the 12a na. I just pulled the carb off to rebuild it and came across this. That valve in the to intake port will not move and I an just curious should it be moving or are there some internal linkage that keeps it from moving freely. Rats nest is still installed.

that is your shutter valve, its supposed to close during decel to prevent back fires (someone correct me if im wrong) usually they freeze up and quit working, luckilly yours is in the open position lol a properly running car wont backfire even with out it, so i removed mine and jb welded the hole shut. but yes, it should move.

heat up the shaft with propane and grab the linkage with pliers and try to twist it loose. If i was you and wanted to keep it, id take the blade of of the linkage and remove the whole thing, clean all the parts seperatly, and re install. But I'm not you, and Id just rip it out and plug the holes lol

penetrating fluid worked for me. it took a while but it eventually soaked into the joints and freed everything up.
