Intake Coolant Passages on 12A

Is there any possible way to plug the coolant passages on the intake for a 12A engine? I have replaced the gasket and o-rings and I am still leaking coolant. Just need some suggestions on blocking these coolant passages?

20 mm freeze plugs. I add a little J-B weld to make sure they are secure and seal.

These go in the block of course.

Good to know, I've changed intake gaskets and o rings twice, and same thing they still leak, not too bad, but enough, also got a vaccum leak, gotta redo teh job again. this time I think i'll use freeze plugs, that will at least take care of the coolant leak. Are there any ill effects of doing this? I wouldn't really think so...

they don't have to go into the block but well if your having trouble with leaks then yea, prolly be a good idea.

only ill effect would be worse gas mileage and possible carb icing in cold temps.

trochoid`s advise would be the best!
JB Weld will allso work good, but i would suggest doing so,with the engine unassembled.

Thanks for the quick reply people. This problem is frustrating me to the fullest. Checking on freeze plugs today. Also would 22mm plugs work or just 20mm plugs?

So, Carl - what you are saying is you placed the oring into their respective locations and then placed a quarter over the o-ring or was it the other way around? Meaning quarter, and then o-ring (then intake obviously).

20mm They are a tight fit at that. I use a socket that fits just inside the rolled edge to tap them in place.

Make sure the surfaces are clean before applying the J-B. All corrosion must be removed and then use brake clean to prep for bonding.

The freeze plugs will stay in place by themselves, the J-B is used mostly for filler in case of corrosion pits.

The Dorman part # is 555-101
