Instrument Cluster

Would 84-85 instrument clusters work in a 81? I know i'd have to change the speedo gear to accomodate the 0-140 mph speedo, and possibly the speedo gear. But that's not a big deal. But, does it fit, and have the same type of connections on the back?

No. The '84-'85 cluster will not fit, but of course anything is possible if you are willing. Both the phyical shape and electrical connectors are different. Why are you wanting one? Is it just because of the higher MPH on the speedo? If it is just because of the speedo, I would recommend an '83 cluster. They are the same as the '81 as far as shape and electrical conection, but have a 130 MPH speedo.
