installing new wiring harness?

i'd like to either have a shop install a new wiring harness in my car, or do it myself. the on i have is all chopped to ****, and i'd like to replace it. i would also like to clean all the connections from the battery. would this be too difficult for someone with a little experience (not really with electrical stuff) to do? if so, does anyone have an idea of how much a shop would do that stuff for?

I see no reason why you can't do it yourself. Get the good ol Haynes manual or FSM, and everytime you disconnect an old wire, attach the new one. It will probably take you a day or two, but you can handle it.

wiring

It is a nigthmare for people with mechanical skills, so more than likely is going to take you a good while to get it done. The hardest thing is taking out the dash since it all comes in one messy piece. I done a couple and for less than nothing to me, (money wise), and it takes a lot of patience. If you take to a shop be prepare to spend some mula.

not to hi-jack this thread but how much mula...I am going to put an aftermarket ECU in my car. WHat should I look to spend...anyone with experience? I had a shop tell me that they could probably build a harness for around 400 less installation.

Thanks,
Z

the MOST IMORTANT THING IS THIS, LABEL **LABEL** !!LABEL!! everything before you pull a harness off the car, the one that's up there now and when you pull the doner. I rewired my car to remove all unessasarys after my swap, and let me tell you having it labeled let me put it right in with no "WTF!! does this go to". You can do it, it took me maybe a week working on it a few hours after work.

BTW I saved ~5lbs removing all the wire I didn't need. And all of those extra conectors come in handy down the road.
