Installing new fuel pump (pics)

Ok I just got my 98 dollar stock replacement pump( at least I hope I don't have to worry about it for awhile) .

No since the one I have in the car is different. Which end does the line that runs to the fuel filter and which end goes into the other fuel line?

If they are nice there should be a flow arror on the pump. What year is the car you are replacing it on? Give us a pic of your old pump if possible.

For an easy test, put a short length of tube on both ends, stick them both in a bit of fuel (hate to get water in the pump) and see which way it flows?

Looking in the 85 FSM, Sec 4A, p.3 the straight tube is output and goes to the fuel cut valve, then to the hardline running to the engine bay. You should download a copy o your year of the FSM.

Plumbing is the same, the fittings on the tank are different. The 83 manual has the pluming system scattered over a couple of pages, the S3 shows the entire system on one page. The S3 manuals are better anyway, they cover more.

On your 83 tank the forward tube is the return, the middle the supply and the rear one goes to the cut and check vavle mounted forward of the spare tire well.

I have hard copies of both so searching is easier than looking on the comp.

no offence but I would of bought a high performance pump for that money, and it would of been better if you ever decide to upgrade later on with your fuel system. Just my 2 cents
