installing new fuel filter wtf???

Exclamation installing new fuel filter wtf???

im reading the hayes and it say mark hoses.....i have going in going out as my two lines my new filter has an arrow on it but the hayes says the arrow points to the lead hose from the filter to pump...but i thought it was tank pump filter carb they make it sound like it is tank filter pump carb?????which line hooks into what side of the filter?? need quick help im stuck

i have my new fuel filter b4 the pump...cuz you dont want nasty **** goin thru the pump

im putting where the stock is though.....but just what hose?? is there somthing bad that will happen if i do it backwards??

mine goes tank filter pump carb, 85 gs

edit just install the filter so that the arrow points in the direction of flow.

i put it in and drove around seems fine.......what would happen if u put it in backwards

Probably just run out of fuel or something at the carburetor. Or nothing at all could happen.

...if you've tried blowing in it...it only goes one way...so you do the math about what would happn if you put it in backwards...pretty much what ^he^ said

Yup... arrow points towards pump, and if you put it in backwards, fuel doesn't get to the pump.

Worst case scenario, if you really kept trying to start it or kept the pump running dry, it would burn the pump out. Most likely it just wouldnt flow fuel, you'd realize what you'd done and switch it around. Sounds like you got it right.

Yeah, the order is Tank, Filter, Pump.

The filter protects the pump from getting junk into it and killing it.

I have not done it yet but that is what my books says....
...and it makes sence.
