A buddy of mine has a 36 Chevy pickup that he drag raced (went mid 9's at 145mph) It had shaved handles and locks. They had a button mounted under the car that you would hit with your foot to pop the door. When he would run the truck at tracks with stricter tech, they would make him put a big piece of tape with "Door Button" and a big arrow pointing to where it was.

I'm positive not every track will let you race with no door handles. If you wad up your ride and it's flaming away whilst you lay there unconscious, they'd have to bust the window in on your face to pull you out.

I would at least talk with the tracks you frequent before you do this.

Definately looks smoother, though. Shave the marker lights and body moldings along with them if you decide to take this route.

Shave the locks, leave the handles...how else are you going to close your doors unless you dirty the window constantly or leave butt marks?

Id shave it all im in the process of doin it my self. Closing the door isnt to bad you just push at the top corner of the window, and if you have good seals or poppers you can grab the door just at the curve(right behind the door handle).

you guys do know this topic is over two years old right? lol

I like shaved handles and locks but everyone does it.

I like the idea of welding in a different style handle....and leave off the locks!

I havn't tried on that car but most cars are "hood popable" from the ground on the outside on small chance your bat does die.

O and yes these cars are easy as hell to break into...Previous owner (a friend) of mine locked the only key in it....took me 45 seconds on my first try with a slim jim think that a bad thing lol
