installing a fuel pump?

can anyone help me out with what i need to know? the fuel goes in on one end, out the other? then there is a power line. is it just one wire from the battery? and one grounded? i want to make it come on and off with a toggle switch. so to get power to it do i just run a wire from the battery to the toggle switch, then from the switch to the pump? what else is there to it than that? thanks for the help

Depends if you're trying to burn your car down or not? If not I'd suggest running a fuse or better yet a relay as well.

My fuel pump wiring was shot. I think thats why i got my car for $450. The guy thought something more serious was wrong.

I just ran power and ground to the pump through a switch with i think a 10amp fuse. thats what carter called for on my pump.

just buy an el cheapo fog lights relay from autozone. just grab the package that reads HEAVY DUTY RELAY (Part #DF005). In back of the package, there is a pictorial diagram.

30 = source or battery +
85 = ground
86 = switch (either a wire coming out from the coil's + terminal OR accessory wire)
87 = fuel pump +
87A = not needed

** remember to add a fuse

thats the advantage of FC fuse box upgrade. There's plenty of room for additional gadgets such as electric fan, stereo, amps, fog lights or in this case, a fuel pump. no need to buy in-line fuse. Another advantage is: No spaghetti wires coming out of the battery.
