I would just keep the stock radio in. It looks the best. Plus you can get an ipod adapter at best buy for like ten bucks and listen to music on your ipod if you have one. Thats what i did. Its great. It's your decision though, so do what you want

ok ok ok before u do anything bad, take out the old one, u r gunna need a dash kit.
when you go to buy a cd player get a soche dash kit that fits ur car. there will be instructions with it how to install, as well as the deck will have instructions, you will also need to by a wiring harness (also from soche) after u have all the parts its real simple to install. here is mine with deck and dash kit.
BUY THE DECK IT IS CRAZY AND CHEAP

I'm leaving my stock system in, and am in the process of hooking up an FM modulated 6 CD changer. I'm going to mount it behind the drivers seat in a vertical position right below the storage bin area. Don't know how it will sound, but I agree that a stock system looks the best.
that plastic peice is very brittle so becareful. the stock one didnt work in mine so i had 2 yank it and i rewired the entire thing. might be a good idea 2 replace the stock speakers also mine where junk.

The problem with CD players with that anti-skip technology is they read the CD ahead of time and store the audio data in memory. They compress it on the fly with ADPCM which sounds harsh and grainy during playback.
At least that was the standard when I learned about it back in '00. They may have improved it since then.
Of course most car audio systems aren't set up for audiophiles so practically any CD player will do.
Cascadia, those FM modulators are frequency limited to 50Hz-15kHz. They work but...
Sorry, there I go again.

mazdaverx713b, Please do a little research before you shoot me down. You need to remove the pieces I just explained to get the panel out. There is no logicon in his car, I've seen the pictures, and I have the same car, the climate control is mechanical.
Here's the pics.

I probably went a little too crazy with the dremel when I was trimming the panel, but the head unit will not pull out through the hole. I still need to fab up some brackets to bolt to the sides of the unit so it won't move, but it won't move, rattle , or come out now without pulling the panel off.
