Installed new starter, still won't crank...
you did have the key on while trying to start it right?
sucks that you gotta go through all that trouble... i had similar problems when i first bought my car, but my car already had a walmart ignition in it.. i lucked out and found a whole ignition/door lock/hatch/ with key in it at the junkyard..

Just thought I'd shed light onto this. The start problem ended up to be a fusible link in the switch relay bundle. I have to give the props to another forum member here in NC that figured that out.
To makes things even better, the reman. starter I bought was defective which threw me in a loophole as well. sounded terrible trying to crank. I replaced the link, bought a new starter with warranty (learned my lesson), and replaced the battery ground cable since the old one was frayed and toasted. Got her up and running again yesterday. So nice to finally take it for a spin again.
I just wanted to thank everyone who posted here to help, many of you were right on the money with the link and ground. take care
