Installed a new clutch, pedal feels same??

hey guys, i installed a new clutch, throwout bearing, and pressure plate about 200 miles ago, and my pedal is still weak (not stiff at all) and my clutch still engages at the very top of the pedal, i thought a new clutch would be stiffer and engage in the middle or the bottom of the pedal... any ideas? BTW we didnt bleed it, but is that the problem?

Not bleeding the system is definitely a possible cause for your situation. Pretty simple to do, and should have been done anyway when the other work was completed. Try that, and if there is no change then post back and we can go from there...

You shouldnt need to bleed unless you changed out a line, or the fluid is very dirty. But like Kentetsu said, start there see if you can get it to build proper pressure. More than likely the master is just weak. I would replace the slave as well at the same time. THe line from the master to the slave can be suspect as well. Mine was falling apart.

if ur using a stock pressure plate or single/dual diapram around 2800 lbs, it will not be stiff at all.

Anyone forget to mention you're supposed to adjust the pedal when you put in a new clutch?

Mine isn't adjusted properly either, but I kinda like first gear engaging fully with the pedal only lifted 1/3 of the way up

In FSM, it is chapter 6 (clutch) page 3. You simply turn a nut and it adjusts the pedal to the proper engage/disengage point. FIRST though you should empty all your fluid in clutch res and lines and then fill and bleed with brand new. I did this and the responce is MUCH better and also a lot easier to control when taking off reeeeeally easy (like when a cop is behind you and you have RB SP exhaust and straight through muffler).

factory service manual. Also would be described in the Haynes manual. It would also be in the clutch section of haynes

Adjusting the clutch pedal's push rod is a MUST on heavy pressure plates as you need more/instant pressure to disengage the clutch. However, it will overwork the clutch master and will cause a premature failure (clutch master).

when i put in my act dual friction stage 2 clutch the only difference i noticed was that the clutch pedal was much easier to push to the floor. it engaged and disengaged in the same spots though.
