Inspections

I have a 79 Rx7 just wondering do we still have to get the legal inspections done every year or is a safety inspection all that is needed. I was told at one shop that a regular inspection is needed on any year car. But i begged to differ. Just wondering what the true story is.

depends on where you live. I've got no idea about NY. as far as i know though if you can edge into a classic car i think the new rule is 25 years you only need safety. so you should be ok. i'm just thankful i'm registered in MI no emissions tests. woohoo!

Same thing in TX...in Cali, they tried to push it out to 40 year old vehicles but got strong-armed by SEMA's political arm

What exactly are you talking about saftey inspection? I know ppl that own garages in NY and when they do inspection all the check for is your car be in safe working order and all the warning lights work. They're not that strict on emmisions yet. So if you cant pass the saftey check they do, which they take a wheel off and check your brakes and so on then you dont need to be driving anyway...

ok well what i meant was i didn't want to have to pay $40 bucks to fail the inspection and get nothing out of it. What i meant is when a car hits the 25 year mark do u still need to pass the emissions inspection. Cause a friend of mine told me that after 25 years supposedly that all cars just need to pass safety which means brakes, lights, hazards and so on.
