Spent 2 hours swapping out my RB header / street port exhaust system, today, and bolted up the stock system with Bonez catalytic converter to complete my mission for the state inspection.
During my quest, I had to get two new tires (went with the 195/50-15 width for the inspection only to fail the first attempt due to the AIR PUMP NOT BEING TUBED TO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. This was the first time an inspector bumped me for that!
So, I drove down the road, with the new tires and passed at the next station. They saw the like-new cat and passed me, with compliments on my "FB". The fellas all reminised. One of the attendents explained that he'd had 3 FBs in the past but sold them all, now, he misses them.
So, now I go out and put the dark-tint hatch back in place, and swap the exhaust out, back to the RB system. That stock system really restricts in comparison!
My county will begin smog checks upon inspections next year. That will be interesting; however, 1996 - and newer will be smog checked. Older vehicles are grandfathered.

 

It really sucks here in california regarding smog standards..... I recently failed. No big though, I left off my "AIR PUMP NOT BEING TUBED TO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER." and was running rich...

 

We have no emissions or inspections. Gotta love them Bush's!
