a 205/50-15 is ~3mm smaller diameter than a 185/70-13. This equates to a .5% speedo error at 60 MPH. That's closer than factory specs.
I weighed my 15x7 Ronals and 205/50-15's. .5 LBS lighter than a stock 13 + wheel and 205/60-13. Never compared them to a 185/70-13 though.

I certainly would've liked them to be lighter, but they are what they are. However the back end is now a lot less likely to come around on me, doubt its the weight.. probably the width.

Also the posted pic was taken prior to me installing the RB springs (which as I'm sure you know don't drop it much), but since they've settled in it has filled in the gap to the fender some.

Another interesting thing to note about tires is that even when new, their "actual" size can vary from what they are stated as being.

i read that theres some problems with these rims on a sa, any one figured out how to fix that yet

I think you'd have to swap in the strut towers (maybe brakes too?) from an FB. Try a search with "Konig Rewinds" and "SA" and you might find a solution.

I have taken some measurements and talked with Billy from ReSpeed about their coilover kits allowing for more clearance on my SA. Once I order them and install, I will let the SA owners know how much room I gained. In my situation (rewinds with 205/50/15 ) the edge of the second coil of the spring was resting on the tire. I should have known seeing as the clearance is tight with the stock 185/70/13.

Alright, time to bust this open again!
Why does everyone talk about the 15" wheels, why not 16" Rewinds? would there be fitment/rubbing problems? Can't just go a series down on the tires?
I'm going to order some of these wheels very soon and would love to know if I could purchase the 16x7's for my fb!!! cuz 205/45/16 looks pretty close on the tire size calculator, just simply wondering why everyone is going with the 15" wheels....
And.... Is 205 the widest you can go on am fb??? if not how wide can ya go, and what mods would have to be done??

If they are made in 16x7 in our bolt pattern then that's news to me.

Yeah, Well I am on the Konig link right now that I found in this thread! and clicked on the rewind graphite and it says 14x7, 15x7, 16x7 are the sizes... unless i am not in the right part or something.. would you be able to check it out n let me know if i am dreaming or maybe they started making them a size bigger since this topic was on fire....??? check it out!

Yeah I see that the wheel itself is made in 16x7, but not necessarily in a 4x110 pattern with the proper offset for our cars.

I don't think 16's were offered in 4x110. Besides, the 16's usually start getting heavier, and small cars are very susceptible to changes in rotational mass.

yeah i was lookin at prices and the 16x7 was an option with the rewind, just only in 4x114 so no 16" 4x110, so what offset do i want when i but the rewind 15x7 wheels???

Yeah I put in on this thread before it was brought back from the dead. I hadn't even thought of taking the extra weight into consideration (10lbs apiece), until I blew the wheel cylinder out while locking up to avoid an accident.

I forget the offset but I'm sure it would turn up in a search. But I think they were designed in 4x110 to fit our car's specifically, so I don't think you'd find them in different offsets.
I bought mine from JLB Motorsports.

The only offset offered is +20mm. Just about perfect for an FB, but can have issues on an SA.

^^ Damn those are pricey, nearly $400 per, the Rewinds are like $500 for the set. I also noticed that they're only 5'" wide, half an inch skinnier than the stockers so would that affect the backspacing?

this thread is interesting, don't know anything about tires, but later on i would like to get some...maybe stick with 13's if possible but if i have to i think the highest i'd go is 14 :P, but i would like something that sticks out of the fender...i've always liked that look....maybe not so much in front just so that it lightens up the cornering...so it'd be nice to find some 13's with either a big lip or some negative offset i guess...haha then again i don't know crap about wheels sooooooo...yeah

Well thats what I want, I was thinkin just slap the 15x7's on it, but purchase/make some wheel spacers for the rear so they pop out a bit n look nice n beefy.... yet have the fronts bolted in regularly to retain cornering..

I'm running 15x7 +15mm offset with very old ST springs (for now) that make for a VERY low stance. 205/50-15's barely clear the fenders after rolling the lips. I still get minor rubbing in the rear, but I trimmed 1.25" off my bumpstops. At full bottom, the rear tires just touch the fender lips.
I just bought GC coilovers and a full set of Eibach race springs. This will bring car back up about 2", and *should* allow for a 225/45-15 to fit without rubbing. Will also be adding 1/4" spacers to the bumpstops.

Seriously, you don't the rear track width to exceed the front, for best handling. Ask any race suspension guy, they'll say the same.

If you're considering spacers as an option, you should get some made for a more common bolt pattern so you'd have a ton of wheel options instead of just a handful.
