i cant pick
Feather 15x6.5
hurry 15x6.5
rewind 14x7

how do i figure out the tire size for the rim, i want ones that would have mor eor less the same over all size of my stock 13's

Catatonik 09-03-07 04:47 PM

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

or

http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp

The 1st has a good visual, but I find the second better because it recommends rim width for the selected tire size.

Kentetsu 09-03-07 05:16 PM

Very nice site. Thanks for sharing... :)

warwickben 09-03-07 05:39 PM

tires confuse the hell out of me

so this is what i did

i belive my stock tires are
185 70 13

if i go with a 15 inch rim i should use

185 55 15.

can some one explain this to me. i know the last number is the rim dim, what are the othere numbers.

Jeezus 09-03-07 05:45 PM

185/70/13

185 is the mm in how wide the tires are from sidewall to sidewall.
70 is the height of the tire from the bead to the top of the tread. It is the percentage of tire width, as in 70% of 185 mm. the smaller this number, the wider the tire is in relation to its height.
13... well that the diameter of the rim. :)

warwickben 09-03-07 06:02 PM

since i helped you guys out , you guys have to help me out.

i have chose to go with the Feather rim its 15x6.5
http://www.jdwheels.com/images/K_Feather_b.jpg

i don't want any problems when i order the rim and don't want to sound like iam dumb when i call. what info do i need to order to make sure they will fit like back spacing ect

Catatonik 09-03-07 06:06 PM

Why stay with such a narrow tire on a rim that's 1" wider?

Try 205/50R15

Much nicer ;)

warwickben 09-03-07 06:12 PM

iam confused about tires thats why lol. i was trying to figure out what tire would have the same overall size so my speed o wouldnt be to off ect. i live in mass do you think with a 15 rim i would still have enough side wall that i wouldnt have to worry.

Jeezus 09-03-07 06:18 PM

That should be good for what you need. Just make sure you have the right offset.

EDIT: 205/50/15. Tires are a little bit under inflated/car is dirty

Great job on finding that site Ben. Let me know when you guys are done adding info and I will put the thread in the Archives. :-)

warwickben 09-03-07 06:53 PM

well iam gonna look for the info for my car like offset and post it here iam dumb when it comes to tires. iam a welder/drive my buddy just tell me what to do when it comes to fixing motor ect.

i decied iam going with the rewind rim the 14x7 should be a good rim for mass.

i want a tire with the same over all size but one thats wide enough for the rim.

Rx-7Doctor 09-03-07 06:55 PM

Do a search using the terms, Wheel offset.

warwickben 09-03-07 07:16 PM

hope this makes sense. i found a post and some one bought the 15x7 rims. they saidt the off set is +20mm

i am going to go with the 14 rims just to be safe, i live in mass and the roads are bad in most areas pluse i go to nh alot and drive on dirt roads. 20 inch rims in mass = :tank:

That's the problem...their offset choices are terrible. +20 or +0....we need like a +10 for killer lip and no stickoutage.
