I'm selling my Charcoal 1985 RX-7 GS

Hey everyone!

I have to sell my 1st gen RX-7. 1985 Mazda RX-7 GS. Money is needed for life events here. I just had it repainted the original color (I believe the code is V9).

As you have seen by my posts, I have done a lot of work to this car, and have invested a lot of $$$$$.

As of this post, there are three (3) days left on my no-reserve auction on EBAY. I have lots of extras for the car that I haven't had a chance to put up for auction as well. Let me know if you want to bid on my car, or have any questions.

Hey Smile,

Well well, I see this car again I found your auction like a week ago.. you might wanna look into this though:

"This 12A Rotary runs great, and does not burn/leak oil."

Your car is DESIGNED to burn oil! It has an Oil Metering Pump which pumps small amounts of your oil into the combustion chamber to keep the rotors lubricated. If you're not burning oil, the pump is probably broken, and your engine is on it's way to a breakdown.... be careful.

I understand your technical point, though. I doubt Mazda advertised the RX-7 as a car that was designed to burn oil. LOL

advertised or not though - it is most definitely designed to consume oil.

okay, okay

Okay, so what you're saying is that if an RX-7 doesn't burn oil, then it isn't running as it was designed?

My knowledge is now improved.

Correct.

It lubricates by spraying oil in there with the gas.... (since there's not another way to oil the moving parts)... therefor it burns oil under normal operation.

Yeah,

I figured that it since it burned oil purposefully, you'd notice the drop in oil that kept happening all the time (given that you check your oil frequently, which most of us do now that we know it's meant to burn it!). You'll rarely see blue smoke out the pipe, though a slight puff of it when you've been sitting isn't uncommon.

I'd love to come take a look at your car, but unfortunately I'm in Canada, and quite enjoying my '84GS project car, which is eating up all my moulah.

I hope you find a good buyer, it's good to know you're someone in the forum. If you have any questions about the car you're selling, feel free to let us know. As a seller, you should try and be as informed as possible, so that a more-informed buyer doesn't try and take you out for it. Good luck with everything

And yeah, if you have not noticed your oil level ever dropping between oil changes, get that checked. It's not an expensive repair to rebuild the OMP, but it IS an expensive thing to have your engine fail due to lack of lubrication.. Engine rebuilds and replacements are not cheap!
