im lost, confused and Excited

Like the topic says.

I just got a '79 rx7, ( actually 2 '79s, an '80 and an '83) but im tryin to get the'79 running. Im probably running for help sooner than I need to, but I want to share my happiness.
Okay like I was saying, just got a '79 and excited as hell. the previous owner removed the wiring harness and all of the interior. When he bought it he planned on using it for his daily commute, but the Temperature gauge wasn't hooked up, and aparently the wires to hook it up had been hacked off the harness by the previous owner. So he took everything out. After that he lost interest and Thats where I come in.
The other owner was going to use the wiring harness out of the '80 his sister had driven to college. Well the engine in the '80, is out of the '83 GSL he used to drive. I think the wiring harness is the one from the '80.
Okay nows where my problem comes in ( Im not sure it is even a problem, just a sinking feeling.) today was the first day I got a chance to work on it, and nothing really matchs up, I dont think the wiring harness' are interchangable, let alone the fact that Im not sure I have everthing I need to hook up to it.
I was wondering if I should just go ahead and put the '79 wiring harness back in and try to fix the gauge problem.

Other than that Im excited and cant wait to drive this car, its got a RB header and the rats nest removed ( think thats partly why most wires dont go anywhere, but I dont know which ones). and after I get done with this one I have my other '79 that needs a transmission, and probably a rebuild, it has an oil leak.

Well I think I had mor to say but got lost, but thanks for listening, and for any input you may have on my delima,

I would say put the '79 harness back in, and run new wires for the guages...

I think I got a good deal I payed $750 for all 4 of them.

Thanks for trying to help, sorry to not be clearer

if you're swapping dizzy's, get an 81-85 with electronic ignition. It's an EASY swap. Especially compared to everything else you've run into!!

You may want to lay both harness's on the ground and see if they match up

The only real problem I have run into is the box that is right next to the fire wall, and the box's that are next to it, I cant find the things on the wiring harness to hook into them. most of the other stuff hooks up. (somewhat)

Why do I need to change the distibutor? The electronic Ignition thing kinda scares me, I have the distributor for that, but I dont know how the swap goes. ill just have to look it up.

And The harness could be out of the '83 that the engine it came off of was out of, ( swapped into the '80)
Would this make any difference?

thanks, you guys are given me some hope, I was gettin a little burnt out. its just I cant wait to drive this car.
