first thing that comes to mind is an electric fan, well actually first thing that comes to mind is do a search. But AFTER that is an electric fan. Look for one as low profile as possible. Check out some fords liek Taurus, Tempo.. and im sure there are others you could use. just take a look around. Use some creativity, imagination, and common sence and you shouldent have any problems. good luck.

P.S. sunroof.

Yup the fan form a 90's 3.8 v6 taurus should work :] No, it should not suck all your battery when it runs, if it does.. well then jus tgo back to the junkyard and grab an alternator form a TII hell and while your there grab the engine.. and tranie.. and lets get back on course. you might gain like 1HP or so.. but it will take up less room look cleaner. You are right about less running off the E shaft. You will probably be more likely to notice it should rev up a bit faster. The gain in horsepower will be barely noticeable if at all. but its a good project. One last thing, make sure you keep the origional fan shourd and use it with the new one!

Maybe you can trade your DVD and LCD stuff for the electric fan from a 92 Taurus at the junkyard?

ummmmm..... why? i have seen pics of people with efans, and have never seen one with the stock fan shroud seeing as how most elecric fans come built within a shroud.

The 86-91 alternator is a direct bolt in......but you have to cut apart the plastic connector for the wires that plugs into the 1st gen alternator.

I installed a 91 Alternator into my 84 GSL, and the connectors are shaped like " | | " in one.....and " | -- " in the other.

Also, whatever wire that is covered with a rubber boot, that bolts onto the top.....the little "ring" type connector doesn't slide over the larger bolt of the 2nd gen alternator. I just cut it, and bent it apart into a C shape, and then secured it down with the bolt so it doesn't go anywhere.

Works great....especially since my last one put out like 16amps and the bearings or bushings were dead.
